I photographed this with my Nikonos IV with BW print film. I love the marblesque reflections of the water on the water polo players body. And the composition. Enjoy. ©Victor Spinelli
Photo of the Day-Camembert cows-Normandy, France
Posted: 23rd August 2010 by admin in Photo of the DayI took this funny photograph one late afternoon in Normandy, France. I believe these cows produce the milk for Camembert cheese. I love how they are all very curious and looking at me. What characters! Enjoy. Shot with a Nikon D100 with a Nikon 24mm 2.8. ©Victor Spinelli
I took this photograph in Utila, Honduras way back in 1994 during a backpacking trip that started in Alaska (where I worked on a commercial salmon fishing boat for 3 months) and ended in Colombia, South America, 5 very incredible months later. I remember sitting on the white beach of Water Cay, off the shore of Utila, when this islander with his dugout canoe came to shore. I grabbed my Nikon 6006 and entered the water up to my neck and shot this splendid photograph on Kodak Ektachrome 100 ISO. ©Victor Spinelli
I took this portrait of Nastia shortly before the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2009. I simply wanted to capture her competitive eyes. In addition to her Olympic Gold medal, Nastia has 9 World Championship medals. Shot with a Contax 645 on Kodak 220 E-6 film. ©Victor Spinelli
I shot this at Burning Man in Nevada in 2009 during a fierce dust storm. The festival of all festivals where you have to be completely reliant upon yourself while helping your fellow “Black Rock City” citizens. You can’t even sum up the event as a festival because it is so dynamic. It is more that just art, music, partying, camping, living, giving, helping. It is about a positive movement in our world that is changing the outlook of where we stand with each other in peace. Shot with a 1952 RollieFlex 6×6 on Ilford B/W 120 film. ©Victor Spinelli
Photo of the Day-St. Peters Square & Collonade-Rome
Posted: 12th August 2010 by admin in Photo of the DayI took this 25 second exposure of St. Peters Square, in front of the Vatican, one beautiful night in Rome. The Collonade was designed by the great Bernini who was commissioned by Pope Alexander VII- Chigi and completed in 1656-1667 Shot with a Nikon D300s with a 24mm 2.8. ©Victor Spinelli
I took this photograph in 1998 of a museum curator cleaning a very defined and intricate mosaic pavement found in a restored Roman house dated from the Hellenistic period in the 3rd Century B.C. It represents the arrival of Aesculapius at Kos and Hippocrates who receives him. I was working on a Aegean documentary at the time. Shot with a Nikon 6006. Nikon 24mm lens. Kodak E-6 Ektachrome, 100 ISO. ©Victor Spinelli
For two summers, Erick Morillo hired me to be his photographer for his weekly Subliminal Sessions party in Ibiza, Spain. Being with him, in the DJ booth, week in and week out really gave me an appreciation of his spinning abilities. I would often ask myself how can Erick bring the crowd up higher when it seemed that Pacha’s roof was going to blow off. And sure enough he would drop something into the decks and BOOM, the crowd would hit another level. Hierbas all around!! ©Victor Spinelli
