The most rustic game of Horse Polo I ever saw. I took this in Gilgit, Pakistan in the year 2000. The game was invented in India about 3000 years ago and the first organized match was played in Persia. It was amazing because the horses and riders would crash into the surrounding walls (see background) which were actually the borders of the field. The polo mallets were made of irregular shafts of wood and the ground was very bumpy. Shot with 400ASA Kodak. 105mm 2.5 lens. ©Victor Spinelli
