Yankee Stadium Demolition

You are looking at the old Yankee Stadium as it was being demolished this past Spring 2010. A sad photograph for a building that should have never been torn down. At the very least, it should have been made into an apartment/Condominium  complex with every apartment overlooking the field, with a possible pool and playground in center field. Home plate being preserved, of course. That would have been special. Those stands in the background used to be the upper decks behind home plate. I was fortunate enough to work for NBC during the 1999 World Series when the Yankees swept the Atlanta Braves 4-0. The championship game was held and won in the “House that Ruth built” and I celebrated with the team in their locker room, Champagne and all. For me this was like a dream, having been a Yankee fan my entire life. A tradition handed down from my Italian grandfather. ©Victor Spinelli
